Quick Overview

There are two 60-minute classes per day, making 10 hours per week.
You will normally have two different teachers each week. The two classes have a different focus:

Class 1: 60 minutes, with a break between lessons
We cover speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar based on one topic-based lesson from your junior class booklet. Every morning the first morning teacher also teaches you the Phrase of the Day, to help you sound natural.

Class 2: 60 minutes
We cover speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar based on another topic-based lesson from your junior class booklet.

By agreeing that IH Bristol can process your booking immediately you confirm that you are aware that, in the event of a cancellation, IH Bristol may charge you for services already rendered. If you select 'No' in the 'Process my booking immediately' your booking will be processed by us after 14 days (cooling-off period).

Levels
When you have booked your course, we will send you a one-hour English placement test, so we can decide the best level for you. We have online classes from Elementary – Advanced (minimum numbers apply). You will use our original IH Bristol juniors weekly booklets, available at all these levels.

Aims
Our Junior General English online courses help students improve all their skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), plus learn the grammar, vocabulary and cultural knowledge necessary for using English in an international context. Each week, you will receive a one-week IH Bristol booklet (by email, Dropbox, etc) which contains all your lessons for the week! You will have a short homework each day. We use games, quizzes, interactive tasks & interesting topics to make sure you have fun and learn a lot at the same time!

The syllabus
Each course has a flexible syllabus to allow students to join on any Monday. Therefore, our syllabus is designed to be flexible to help us teach you according to your needs. We cover a wide range of important areas. Here is a list of the areas and some examples of the things we often do in each area:
topics: life in the UK, technology, health, going out, music, personality
online class activities: online games, breakout rooms, screen-share & present, video clips
grammar: tenses and verb structures, conditionals, modal verbs, determiners
vocabulary: collocations (words which naturally go together), phrases, idioms
pronunciation: word stress, difficult sounds, natural pronunciation and phonology for listening
the four skills: reading, writing, speaking & listening, to improve your communication skills
effective communication: formal/informal language and politeness, linking sentences together in texts
functional language: agreeing/disagreeing, giving advice, giving opinions, suggesting
